La Virgencita de Guadalupe

18 x 24 Acrylic on Canvas

Although I’m not Mexican; I was raised Catholic and although my views of religion are very liberal and open, I was always drawn to the Virgin of Guadalupe.

She’s a powerful symbol of Mexican identity and faith and her image is associated with everything from motherhood to feminism and social justice.

She is depicted with a luminous light surrounding her, with a blue, starred mantle.

Hamsa

16 X 20 Acrylic on Canvas

The Hamsa is a universal sign of protection and is often combined with the Evil eye to ward anyone who wants to harm you; a defense against negative energy.

The Hamsa Prayer

Let no sadness come to this heart

Let no trouble come to these arms

Let no conflict come to these eyes

Let my soul be filled with the Blessings of Joy & Peace

Lotus Flower

48 X 36 Acrylic on Canvas
Beautifully triumphant; the Lotus Flower is regarded as a symbol of enlightenment across many spiritual traditions . The Lotus is noted for the wondrous way that it grows. Before it can blossom in the sun, it makes its way through muddy waters. In time, it submerges above the water and emerges beautiful and whole.

The Lotus also represents personal transformation. It offers hope that something beautiful can blossom out of suffering, that we too will eventually bloom . No matter where you are in your journey, let the lotus remind you to always trust in the unseen path that leads to the sun.
